Meet the team
Louise Keyworth
Louise is one of 2 programme leaders for the Create Compete, Collaborate (CCC) initiative. Hosted by Creative Junction, CCC is the South East's primary objective for 2012 relating to children and young people and is delivered in partnership with a number of the region's key governmental, cultural, educational, business, charitable and 3rd sector organisations, with whom she works closely
Louise studied Drama at Cambridge University and trained to be a primary teacher. She taught in London (happily, whilst harbouring wonderlust) then studied for an MA in Performance Studies, which increased her appetite for performance in other parts of the World, and directing. Between 2000-2002 she was Artistic
Director of Action Theatre at an educational media NGO in Malawi, creating performances and social mobilisation campaigns around important issues including HIV-AIDS, domestic violence, youth justice & soil erosion.
Unsurprisingly, this experience changed her outlook on many things, including the potential and power of working with communities through creative & participatory techniques. It also demonstrated the importance of understanding and working with different cultures. Since then, Louise has worked as an applied drama practitioner in theatres, schools and communities around London and Berkshire. Between 2004-7, she was part-time Education Manager at Windsor Arts Centre and developed a creative-learning laboratory that made lots of cutting edge practice happen between artists, young people and teachers.
She's delighted to be in this post, bringing together her passion for work with young people, creative processes and doing a bit to make the world an ever-so-slightly better place.
Louise lives in Maidenhead, is married to Mark and has one daughter, Mabel.
Christina Pepper
Christina is delighted to join the CCC team. With a BA in International Relations and MA in Theatre and Development, internationalism and the arts have been a key part of her life for the past 10 years. Her international experience includes: undergraduate studies in Cameroon looking at the impact of tribal alliances on opposition party formation; two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Uzbekistan teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) and advising the National Puppet Theatre of Bukhara; two years teaching ESL in Japan; and postgraduate research in South Africa looking at the barriers to child participation.
Following her postgraduate studies she spent three years as the Community Arts Co-ordinator at the Corn Exchange (Newbury), project managing several large-scale arts projects with schools and the community.
Christina is a huge fan of the Olympics and has been enthralled by them from a young age – she can not remember missing an Olympic games. She looks forward to sharing her passion for learning about other cultures and the Olympics, and hopes young people in the South East will also be inspired by London 2012.
Jeannette Brooks
Jeannette joins the CCC team as maternity cover for Louise Keyworth and she will be working closely with Christina Pepper on the delivery of the initiative with stakeholders, community groups and schools across the region.
Following a successful 16 year career in contemporary dance Jeannette Brooks now has an overlapping additional 12 years of arts management experience in community, education and theatre/venue settings.
Jeannette has worked for and with regional arts development organisations in positions of responsibility and project directorship in London and across the South East. She has gained experience in small and large scale outreach programme planning, fund raising, project co-ordination and partnership development with organisations such as Bracknell Forest Borough Council, Hampshire Dance Trust, Hextable Dance and Wycombe District Council and with partners from amongst others theatre, festival, arts centre, community and youth services.
With a passion for contemporary visual arts and music Jeannette is prone to writing the odd poem and banging out a rhythm or two on a Djembe. A mum of two young children, Jeannette is also resident ‘walker’ to her French speaking dogs Bouba ‘le super chien’ and Kali-mini.
Jessica Jhundoo
Jessica was delighted to become one of the Creative Junction directors: to establish, shape and develop a growing organisation and lead a great bunch of committed and passionate people.
She has a particular interest in informal learning and is passionate about young people identifying and being confident in the skills and attributes realised and nurtured in their lives outside of formal learning. She is eager to find different approaches and opportunities for learning to ensure that everyone can aspire and take pleasure in their development and growth and be happy and healthy individuals.
Before overseeing the incorporation of Creative Junction as a Community Interest Company, Jessica was operations manager for the Creative Partnerships programme.
Her experience lies in events, projects, operational and financial management, leadership and strategy. She began her career at a leisure complex, where she marketed and managed corporate events, collaborated on a strategy to increase schools business, and formed part of the management team: supporting staff and identifying organisational needs. She then moved to an Education Business Partnership to initiate business relationships and nurture links and partnerships between schools and business, promoting the development of ‘real world' skills, whilst overseeing the operations of the organisation.
Jessica spent her youth participating in dance, amateur dramatics and music. She is a practiced dancer, completing an intensive year with a community dance centre in Wales. She re-kindled her passion through a brief opportunity to teach young people with special educational needs and continues her own practice in her spare time. She is a 2nd Dan Black Belt in the martial art of Tae Kwon Do; loves to read in the garden; bake in the winter; sing wherever possible; and walk in the summer sun.
Rachel Sears
Rachel studied drama and theatre at Royal Holloway University and was inspired to work using drama within community and education contexts. She has experience planning, coordinating and delivering education and community based drama projects with children, young people and adults through work with a number of organisations such as Bounce Theatre, C&T and The Lyric Hammersmith. She has recently completed an MA in Applied Theatre, at Manchester University, where her research focused on site-specific applied theatre and creative work with participants in health care settings. She has experience working with young people with disabilities through work in partnership with Mencap and Angel Shed Theatre and brings this experience to her role as Project Manager for Campaign!
